Becoming magnificent in Muskoka is a process involving many building stages. With a full demolition and redesign of the interior layout, a proper foundation to support half of the existing structure and a severe mould issue dealt with, this building project was under way. All new plumbing, heating, electrical, alarm system and automated lighting controls brought this building up to speed with technology. Waterproofing downstairs, including spray foam insulation encasing the ceiling, walls and floor provide seamless energy efficiency in our Muskoka climate. This was continued up to the roof, which was properly ventilated and shingled with cedar shakes.
The feature element of this property is the exquisite outdoor stone fireplace on a new stone patio with steps leading down to the boathouse and retaining wall. Adjacent to the fireplace, sits the built-in stainless BBQ with storage and granite counter top.
The interior vaulted ceiling is detailed with exposed structural beams and whitewashed pine. The pine continues down the walls and is finished with built-up trim. The kitchen boasts its chef style stainless appliances, granite counter tops and reclaimed engineered flooring. All new bright windows and doors lead to a magnificent Muskoka room for entertaining and enjoying the view of the lake. Need to look after some business, or keep connected while at the cottage? With this bright office nook the client won’t miss a second of vacation time.
Additional items to note include: the clever built-in cabinetry in the entrance and bedrooms, as well as the beautiful marble shower with glass enclosure. This was one of three buildings on the property which Fitzmaurice Brothers transformed. Look for the boathouse and bunkie under the categories section to see the rest of this great escape.
